Servers of ours between you and your car. ConTess uses your own Tesla developer credentials, and signs every command on your Mac.
Control your Tesla
from your Mac.
Stay connected to your Tesla without picking up your phone. Monitor, control, and understand your car directly from your Mac.
Live vehicle status in the menu bar. Wall Connector integration with charging and battery health insights.
No app subscription · No servers · You own the data
A background logger records trips and charges whenever your Mac is awake, app open or not, and never wakes the car to do it.
One-time purchase. You own the app, the data and the connection.
Private by design.
Built for Tesla owners.
Most third-party Tesla apps route your credentials and vehicle data through servers they own and charge you monthly for the privilege. ConTess doesn't have servers.
Your tokens stay on your Mac and every command is signed on your machine with a key only this Mac holds. ConTess then talks to Tesla's own API using your own developer credentials, so the only company in the path is Tesla, and there is no account, no subscription and no server of ours in between.
- Credentials never leave your Mac
- Commands signed locally with your own key
- No ConTess account, because there is no ConTess server
Mac
API
car
Your credentials, your key, Tesla's own API. No middleman, no monthly fee.
Smart polling
ConTess backs off when the car is asleep, so a complete history doesn't cost you range.
What did that drive actually cost you?
Enter your own electricity price and ConTess calculates every trip and every charging session in your currency. Roll it up by day, month or year, or export as CSV.
Per-trip cost
Distance, energy, efficiency and price for each drive.
Phantom drain
See what the car uses while it just sits there.
Named locations
Start and parking places, not raw coordinates.
Day / night tariffs
Charging costed at the rate it actually happened on.
Every session,
down to the amp.
Set the charge limit and current, start or stop a session, pop the port. Watch live power, voltage, grid frequency and energy added, broken down by day, month or year and priced in your currency.
Your Wall Connector, on your network
Point ConTess at your Tesla Wall Connector's address on your home network and it reads the charger directly. Nothing goes through Tesla or through us to get there.
Live from the charger itself
Power, voltage, current and grid frequency as the session runs, taken from the unit rather than estimated from the car.
Lifetime totals
Every kWh the charger has ever delivered, split by day, month and year, and costed at your own tariff.
Keep an eye on
battery health.
Estimated range at 100%, usable capacity and degradation against the original figure, tracked over time, next to vehicle details, tyre pressures, software version and your car's live position.
The whole car, from
a single screen.
Climate and seat heating, locks and openings, Sentry Mode, HomeLink, media, lights. Different commands are available in different states (park, driving, charging).
Nothing gets lost
A background logger keeps recording trips and charges while the app is closed. If the Mac was off, the app tells you so and still accounts for the distance.
Safety first
Openings and window commands grey out while the vehicle is in motion. No accidental frunk at 90 km/h.
Your data, exportable
Everything lives in a local file you can export to CSV at any time. Leave whenever you like.
Questions, answered.
ConTess is a native macOS app for Tesla owners: menu-bar status, the full set of controls, real charging costs and battery health, bought once. The things people ask before buying:
Does ConTess need a subscription?
No. ConTess is a one-time purchase with a licence key that never expires, and every 2.x update is free. There is no ConTess account and nothing to renew.
Do my Tesla credentials pass through your servers?
No, because there are no ConTess servers. The app runs on your own Tesla developer credentials, keeps the tokens on your Mac, and signs every command with a key only your Mac holds. Tesla is the only company in the path.
Which Macs and which Teslas does it work with?
macOS 14 or later on Apple silicon, and any Model S, 3, X or Y that supports Tesla's Fleet API. Setup also needs a free Tesla developer account, which the app's wizard walks you through.
Can it read my Tesla Wall Connector?
Yes. Point ConTess at your Wall Connector's address on your home network and it reads live power, voltage, current and grid frequency straight from the unit, plus every kWh it has ever delivered. Nothing goes through Tesla or through us to get there.
Does it track charging costs and battery health?
Yes. Enter your own electricity price, with separate day and night tariffs if you have them, and every trip and charging session is costed in your currency. Battery health tracks estimated range at 100%, usable capacity and degradation against the original figure. All of it exports to CSV.
Is this the official Tesla app?
No. ConTess is an independent app and is not affiliated with, authorised by, endorsed by or sponsored by Tesla, Inc. It talks to Tesla's own Fleet API on your behalf, using credentials you create. Tesla's own app is separate and unaffected.
You own it.
One purchase, no subscription, no vendor lock-in. You have full control over the connection between your Mac and your Tesla.
